Ringgold, Georgia is a small Catoosa County town with a surprisingly full résumé. Things to do while in Ringgold

Dolly Days Celebration
Ringgold has a soft spot for love stories — and one in particular put it on the map. Carl Dean, the famously private husband of Dolly Parton, was from Ringgold, and it’s here that the two were married in 1966 at the Ringgold United Methodist Church. The union has made Ringgold something of a pilgrimage destination for Dolly devotees ever since, and the town has embraced it wholeheartedly. Each year, Ringgold celebrates Dolly Parton Days, a festival that leans into the town’s most famous connection with live music, vendors, entertainment, and plenty of community spirit. It draws visitors from across the region and has become one of the most beloved events on the local calendar.

Antiques, Boutiques & Main Street Finds
Ringgold’s historic district is lined with antique shops and independent boutiques carrying everything from vintage furniture and Depression-era glass to handmade goods and regional art. Browsers are welcome. It’s the kind of shopping that feels like discovery rather than errand-running — you rarely know what you’ll find until you’re standing in front of it.

Civil War History
In November 1863, the Battle of Ringgold Gap was fought in the narrow mountain pass just east of town, where Confederate General Patrick Cleburne’s forces successfully held off a much larger Union army, allowing the retreating Confederate troops to escape after the Battle of Missionary Ridge. It was a tactically remarkable engagement, and Cleburne’s performance here earned him widespread recognition on both sides. Today, Ringgold Gap is preserved as part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park system. Interpretive markers walk visitors through the terrain and the events that played out there.
