Made famous as the site of the 1996 Olympic whitewater canoe and kayak events, the Ocoee offers some of the most exciting whitewater rafting in the eastern United States, with Class III and Class IV rapids that draw paddlers from across the country. Red Clay State Historic Park

This peaceful, beautifully maintained site served as the final seat of the Cherokee National Council before the tragic forced removal of the Cherokee people along the Trail of Tears in 1838. Today, visitors can walk through reconstructed Cherokee structures, explore interpretive exhibits, and reflect at the site’s eternal flame — lit in honor of the Cherokee Nation and kept burning as a symbol of endurance and remembrance.
